The JSPS Washington Office was joined by the San Francisco Office representatives and focused on presenting the fellowships that are available to US researchers. A former fellow joined to help express the importance and excitement of a JSPS fellowship. The US JSPS offices were joined by a multitude of Japanese research organizations: <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">; <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">the Information Technology Center, University of Tokyo<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">; <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.chikyu.ac.jp\/rihn_e\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chikyu.ac.jp\/rihn_e\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\"> (RIHN); <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.omu.ac.jp\/en\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.omu.ac.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">Osaka Metropolitan University<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\"> (OMU); <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.global.hokudai.ac.jp\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.global.hokudai.ac.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">Hokkaido University<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\"> (HU); <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.riken.jp\/en\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.riken.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">RIKEN<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">; <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.jsps.go.jp\/english\/e-toplevel\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jsps.go.jp\/english\/e-toplevel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">World Premier International Research Center Initiative<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\"> (WPI); and the <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"https:\/\/www.nao.ac.jp\/en\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nao.ac.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\">National Astronomical Observatory of Japan<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: \u6e38\u30b4\u30b7\u30c3\u30af;\"> (NAOJ), who contributed immensely to the booth. The theme of this event was <i><u>Toward Science Without Walls<\/u><\/i>, which was embodied by our booth in cooperation with all of the different research organizations. Over 200 visitors came to the booth to explore the different research endeavors occurring in Japan. They could listen to Japanese researchers present their findings in English, learn more about the research institutes, and even enjoy Japanese candy. Surrounded by cherry blossoms, each visitor to the booth left with more information about doing research in Japan.
